DR. MARCEL KURPERSHOEK is a renowned authority on Middle Eastern literary and oral traditions. He is the author a five-volume scholarly study Oral Poetry and Narratives from Central Arabia.
His book collection includes:
DIWANS AND ANTHOLOGIES of individual poets with 35 works including Dīwān Ibn Sbayyil, Dīwān al-Wāʾilī and Shiʿr Shaʿbī, Banū Hājir, khillān al-ashiddah, is a self-published tribal diwan.
NABAṬĪ AND FOLK POETRY (20 titles): The Dīwān Humaydān al-Shuwayʿir has an introduction that expresses gratitude for the earliest manuscripts of Nabaṭī poetry, acquired by Charles Huber and copied from Strasbourg University Library. Taʾrīkh al-shiʿr al-nabaṭī (1000-2011) and the first volume of the Mawsūʿah al-ʿilmiyyah li-l-shiʿr al-nabaṭī treat the history and origins of the genre. Dīwān al-Nabaṭ al- ḥadīth is the earliest Nabaṭī title in the collection.
PRE-ISLAMIC AND CLASSICAL ARABIC POETRY (16 titles): The Muʿjam al-shuʿarāʾ aljāhiliyyīn wa-l-mukhaḏramīn is a dictionary of pre-Islamic and early Islamic poets, and Al-Muwāzanah bayn shiʿr Abī Tamām wa-l-Buḥturī by al- midī is the second edition in two volumes. Maṣādir al-shiʿr aljāhilī wa-qīmathā al-taʾrīkhiyyah deals with the sources of pre-Islamic poetry.
HISTORY, TRIBES AND GEOGRAPHY OF ARABIA (12 titles) include Fī Sarāt Ghāmid wa- Zahrān and Bāhilah, al-qabīlah al-muftara ʿalayh. Two volumes of the geographical dictionary Al-Muʿjam al-jughrāfī li-lbilād al-ʿarabiyyah al-saʿūdiyyah cover Bilād Ghāmid wa-Zahrānand Bilād rijāl al-Ḥajar.
